C OF E SCHOOL: Thanks must go to the staff and Governors who on Friday donned their hats and aprons to provide over 60 full English breakfasts for the pupils, parents and Friends of the school.

All money raised from this effort will go towards the new outdoor classroom.

VILLAGE HALL: There was a lot of shouting on Friday evening when the sponsors and owners watched the screen avidly for their horse to be the first past the winning post. Unfortunately there were several who did not get anywhere near the winning post but that's how it is! Phil Greet was in charge of the racing and thanked everyone who helped make the evening a success. The profits from this evening go towards the Christmas lights and festivities at the hall. This year our lights turn on at 6pm on Sunday, December 7. If you wish to book the hall for a function, please contact Jeanette Dodd on 01326 240045. The Post Office and coffee mornings continue each Thursday from 9am to 1230pm (PO), 11am (coffee).

ST CORENTYN'S HOLLY FAIR: The Holly Fair for the Church Bell Project is being held on Saturday, November 1 from 2pm-4pm at the village hall. Lots of stalls selling superb goods, a raffle and refreshments . If you would like a stall please ring Pene 01326 240654 or Priscilla 01326 240887 as soon as possible. Stalls cost £5.

WOMEN'S INSTITUTE: Our meeting on November 6 at 7.15pm will be an open evening with our men folk invited to come along as well if they so wish. The speaker for the evening is Sarah Chapman "Tales of an Obsessive Knitter". We're not suggesting the men have to learn to knit but it's the social half hour they might be interested in as some of them are in the films that we are showing of past shows some of our members have put on for meetings etc. We meet on the first Thursday of each month (except January) at 7.15pm at Cury Village Hall. New Members are always welcome.

METHODIST CHAPEL: Due to illness there was no service this week. Next Sunday our service at 11am will be led by Gerald Triggs. The following Sunday, November 2, the family service will be led by Julie Swann.

Our shoe boxes for Link to Hope, a Christian charity, have to be back at chapel on November 2. There is a choice of filling a box for a family or an elderly person. Leaflets are available in the chapel entrance porch.
