SNOOKER ROOM: Members held their annual meeting on Thursday. Richard Lake was re-elected as chairman. Anyone wishing to join are welcome, the membership fee is £10 per annum. Contact Richard Lake or any member of the committee for details.

VILLAGE HALL: The quiz held on Thursday for the Cury Church Bells Restoration Project was well attended. Eight teams took part, the overall winners being the Four Belles, aka Shirley Ireland, Pene Oates, Lynda Lee and Marian Jennings. Second place were Chas Cash, Carol Cooper, Harry and Audrey Walsh and Shane Griffiths. Close on their heels were The Clangers, Ron Barnes, Tassie Conder and Sarah and Brenda Lawrance. The question master was Colin Cooper with Alan Cook as adjudicator. Phil Greet served in the bar and Norma Bayliss and her friend took charge of the kitchen.

Priscilla Oates thanked all those who helped to get the room ready and helped during the evening, also all who attended. A profit of £54.20 was made for the project.

Many thanks to the mystery person who has concreted the stone block back on to the base of the village pump, we are trying to get this back as it used to be and make it a feature of the village, all we want now is a handle for it!

METHODIST CHURCH: The preacher on Sunday was Colin Combellack. Two lessons were read by Marian Jennings and Brenda Lawrance. The offering was taken up by Jose Trounson and accompanist was Sybil Benney. Flowers were kindly provided by Freda Lane. On Sunday the appointed preacher is the Rev Beverley Turner, this is also the monthly family service.
