Cury News

CHURCH: Margaret Flinders took the Mothering Day Service on Sunday morning. Don Bettle read a lesson and the offering was taken up by Christopher Trounson. Flowers were provided by Kathryn Jenkin. On Sunday the appointed preacher is Bill Reed.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The Marie Curie Coffee Morning held on Thursday raised a total of £177. Thank you to everyone who helped and all of those who came along to purchase some of the lovely goods on sale. Our next monthly meeting will be on April 5 when Frances Johns will talk about water colour painting. New members are always welcome on the first Thursday of each month in the village hall at 7.15pm.

VILLAGE HALL: At the AGM Phil Greet was re-elected as chairman, Paul Cook as vice-chairman, Mike Aston as treasurer and Brenda Lawrance, secretary/booking clerk.

New committee members, Sharman Giles, Priscilla Oates, Jenny Smith, Rob Morris and Laurence Garner were welcomed on to the committee.

Phil told the meeting how the hall now has a Website so anyone can now go online to view what the hall offers, hopefully this will enable us to have even more bookings this year; we would welcome more daytime events there.
