“Seaside Rock” – the title of the children’s holiday club held during the week, was also the theme for Sunday morning’s family service, led by the Rev Beverly Turner.

The focus of the service was the gospel story of the man who built his house on a rock, with emphasis being laid on the fact that Jesus is the “rock” on whose life and example we should be building our own lives. The service included music, drama and humour: for instance one strangely moving item was a lively rendition of “I’m a believer” led by a group of puppets. The staff from the holiday club were all involved in the service, as were many of the children who attended. David Philp was organist.

There was no evening service: instead members joined with friends at Breaney, where the service was led by the Rev David Pountain.

The Alpha Course continues on Thursday with a meal at 6.30pm, followed by a DVD and discussion groups.
