On Friday Frances Morris welcomed members to the meeting. She introduced Dennis Casley, who gave a very interesting talk on how, after leaving university in 1950's, he arrived at his first job in Uganda. He talked about his work there, including his experiences with Idi Amin.
The notices were read by Dorothy Pountain, including details of the Christmas dinner on December 7, and the pantomime visit on January 27. The tea hostesses were Rosemary Polglase and Judi Mitchell. The evening was well attended and enjoyed by all.
The next meeting will take place at Porthleven Methodist Church on Friday November 16 at 7.30pm. This will take the form of an open meeting when Steve Polglase will talk about 'The Mining Community under the Godolphins. Members and non members (male or female) welcome.
Further information regarding the Friendship Club can be obtained from Phyllis Whiting on 01326 563237 or Dorothy Pountain on 01326 561776.
