At morning worship the congregation welcomed back as their preacher Jennie Bales, wife of the former superintendent minister.

Mrs Bales talked about the authority of Jesus starting with the well-known gospel passage on that theme. The service included a very amusing sketch. David Philp was the organist.

This being the week of prayer for Christian unity, the church hosted the annual Songs of Praise organised by Churches Together Round Tregonning.

Churches represented included Anglicans, Methodists, The Apostolic Church, the Baptist Church and the Society of Friends. Members of each made contributions to the service, and the hymns had been chosen in advance by the various congregations. Led by the Rev Beverly Turner, those taking part were Carol Macleod (Germoe Church), the Rev Sharon Chalcraft (Breage Church with Germoe), the Rev David Pountain (retired Baptist Minister), Trina Beckett (Germoe and Breage Anglicans), the Rev Graham Kitts (retired Apostolic Minister and current chairman of Churches Together), Edward Hengist (Godolphin Methodist Church), the Rev Glen Chaplin (Porthleven Apostolic Church) and the Rev Peter Johnson (Anglican Vicar).

Tea was served at the close by the ladies of Porthleven Methodist Church, and Carol Macleod was presented with flowers as a token of thanks for her many years service as secretary.
