President for the day on Sunday was Geoff Harry and he welcomed the speaker, Michael Elbrow and his wife and many visitors from Seaton, Reading, Oxford, Ashby-de-a-Zouch, Southampton, Bristol, Solihull and Pershore.

In the afternoon, Mike looked at the transformation in the lives of the disciples in the daily readings from the first few chapters of Acts. It was evident to all around them that they had actually seen the risen Lord and the ascension. Peter had changed from being impetuous and even disloyal and was now full of the Holy Spirit and was confident and full of faith. Four times Jesus called the disciples “O ye of little faith!” It was often caused by anxiety as it is in us but that can only lead to fear which brings doubt and eventually weak faith. We should look at what the life of Jesus can teach us about ultimate faith and trust in God which we can see in the communion as we remember what Jesus has done for us and strive to strengthen our faith.

After sharing tea Michael gave a presentation showing some of the recent history of the Jewish people and the suffering and restoration which had been prophesied in Jeremiah and Ezekiel. Dispersal and troubles had been foretold and it was in God’s purpose to restore the land and this would be complete when Jesus returned to set up His kingdom and offer salvation to all believers.
