President for the day on Sunday was Brian Jones who welcomed visitors from Vancouver, Canada, Southampton, Mountain Ash in Wales, Seaton and Solihull.

Speaker for the day on Sunday was Peter Kitchen.

As we had shared a frugal lunch for a charity Peter used the daily reading from 1Thessalonians chapter 5 to talk about thankfulness in all circumstances. We need to thank God for our material needs and the beauty of creation, but also to thank Him for the opportunity to present our anxieties and cares to Him. Jesus even gave thanks on the night He was betrayed, even though He knew His imminent fate. But as Jesus firmly put His trust in the hand of God we should give thanks that we can trust in His purpose of salvation through Jesus, which we remember in the communion service.

After sharing tea Peter talked about the joyful, confident expectation which we can have in the return of Jesus. There was no medicine like biblical hope and deep confidence that God will keep His promises. He used the daily reading from 1Thessalonians to show how the apostle Paul reassured the believers that there was no doubt about the return of Jesus and the resurrection of the dead when believers would be raised together with those still living to join the Lord in His kingdom.
