The president on Sunday was Bob Muxlow who welcomed the speaker, Mark Hayles and his wife from Plymouth.

On Sunday afternoon Mark used the daily Bible reading from Joshua to talk about drawing lots and he referred to the many occasions in the Bible where lots were cast. He compared ‘cup’ with ‘lot’ and the prayer of Jesus in the garden was to let the ‘lot’ pass from him just as the scapegoat carried the sins of Israel in the wilderness. But Jesus was prepared to sacrifice all for our salvation and carry our sins as we remember in the communion service.

After sharing tea Mark looked at the well known story of Noah as portrayed in the recent film release. But Mark used the original story from Genesis in the Bible and showed God’s bigger plan for salvation. As the New Testament points out Noah and his family were saved by water and Jesus saves all of his family of believers through the waters of baptism. Everyone can be involved in this plan which points forward to the kingdom prepared for those who loved God.
