President for the day on Sunday was Dieter Friedrich and he welcomed the speaker, John Eastbury and his wife from Weston Super Mare and visitors from Westbury and Malvern.

In the afternoon John looked at the three daily Bible readings and the many troubles that were resolved through trust in God. Joshua triumphed in his battles as in World War 2 but then the problems of peace began.

The second reading from Isaiah 32 drew a pictorial description of the rest and peace of the kingdom just as our troubles can be dealt with as we strive to help each other and preach God’s word to all. Finally John took us on the journey of Jesus from birth to resurrection and how he was ready to do God’s will and give his all out of love for us. His victory was complete and he wanted all to follow him and always strive to do the will of God as we remember the price that was paid for our redemption in the communion service.

After sharing tea John used the introduction in 2 Peter chapter 1 to show that love was the greatest Christian virtue. Peter was a man who had made many mistakes but became humble and thankful. In the list of virtues in verse 5, love is essentially added as the greatest. This thought led to the world famous treatise on love in 1 Corinthians chapter 13. The faith, hope and love mentioned are the three things that lead to the kingdom when all can be glad that they took notice and strived to develop those virtues.

Plans for the Bible Exhibition in Truro Town Hall from June 16-20 are well under way. It is to be opened by the Mayor and is open from 10am-6pm each day with free admission.
