President for the day on Sunday was Roger Hosking who welcomed the speaker, Steve Ridgeway and visitors from Kinver and Redditch.

On Sunday afternoon Steve talked about building on sure foundations and used the parable Jesus told of the wise and foolish builders in the daily readings in Matthew 7. Steve quoted the Psalmist who said that except the Lord builds the house the work is in vain. We are God’s building and need to build together with God and not work in isolation but with others building on His sure foundation. The builder’s reward will come with the return of Jesus whose life we remember in the communion service.

After sharing tea Steve looked at what the Bible says about faith. This led naturally to the ‘Faith’ chapter of Hebrews 11. All Bible subjects are tied together by faith as Paul points out that without faith it is impossible to please God. It can bring believers into a special relationship with God through Jesus. Steve referred to many bible quotations about faith and the idea was expanded by Paul who said that we could only be saved through faith in salvation through Jesus, which means that all believers can be part of all the promises God made in the bible when Jesus returns.
