Passers by the church during the last week may have noticed outside the building a beautiful tub of Remembrance Poppies. These were specially grown by the children of the Powerhouse Group, in commemoration of the outbreak of World War One.

They have bloomed just a little bit early, but the children are to be congratulated on their effort and thanked for this act of Remembrance. On Friday afternoon the Friendship Club held a garden party at the home of Olive Polglase, at which £140 was raised.

The preacher for Sunday morning worship was Sylvia Richards from St Martin. The service explored the theme of how our attitudes to what is going on around us reflect our attitude to God. Bible readings were from Exodus and John’s Gospel, the readers being Elsie Balme and Dorothy Pountain. David Philp was the organist.

Evening worship was a united service with friends from Helston Methodist Church, and the preacher was Paul Benney, who used the testimonies of three famous Christians from very varied walks of life, linking them to readings from the Bible, and urging members of the congregation to make their own witness in their community activities. John Gilbert was the organist.

Tea and biscuits were served after the service, to enable a short time of fellowship between those attending.
