The Methodist New Year was celebrated on Sunday morning with worship led by the Minister, the Rev Beverly Turner, who took the theme “Everyone is important and has a job to do”.

This theme was particularly appropriate as the service included the commissioning of the church stewards for the coming year, who are Tony Nicholas, Olive Polglase, Dorothy Pountain and Palfrey Turner.

There was also a special presentation made to Mr Bill Kitchen on his retirement from leadership of the Monday Fellowship Class, an office he has held for 54 years. His wife, Joan, received a bouquet of flowers as she has acted as pianist for the group throughout that time.

The service concluded with holy communion Elsie Balme assisted the Rev Beverly in the distribution of the elements and David Philp was organist.

There was no evening service this week, instead members were invited to attend a United Circuit service in Helston, led by the Rev Danny Reed.
