Sunday was the occasion of Harvest Festival, and the church was beautifully decorated for the occasion as usual.

Morning worship was led by Shirley Wearne from Trewennack, who took the theme of the Sower and the Seed, suggesting that instead of the conventional interpretation of this parable, members of the congregation might see themselves in the role of the Sower, with “seeds” of the Kingdom of God to scatter in the world. Lessons were read by Dorothy Pountain and Hilary Cromey. David Philp was the organist for the singing of the well-loved Harvest hymns.

Evening worship was led by David Pascoe from Trevenen. Laced with his usual injection of gentle humour, he spoke about gratitude, emphasising that we should know to whom we should be grateful, and also be grateful for the right things. The hymns, again all on the Harvest theme, were chosen by the organist, Paul Brown.

Gifts of fruit were sent out to sick and elderly people in the village after the service. On Monday there was a special “Harvest Coffee Morning” which included a sale of the surplus fruit and vegetables for church funds.
