One of the results of cancelling Porthleven Lifeboat Day (due to weather conditions) this year was what to do about the raffle. We had sold tickets prior to the event but not the number we would have done had we been able to hold the event.
We went ahead with the draw but with a reduced number of prizes. An auction of the remainder was suggested and with the agreement of those who had donated them went ahead to arrange this.
With the support of Leigh and Ade of the Atlantic Inn, Porthleven, the auction was held on September 11 resulting in the sum of £551.80 being raised for the RNLI to help saves lives at sea.
Our thanks go to all who supported us, Leigh and Ade and their staff, those who donated the prizes and those who made bids to buy them.
Plans will soon be under way for Lifeboat Day 2015 when we hope the weather will be kinder to us.
