President for the day on Sunday was Dieter Friedrich who welcomed the speaker, Bill Rawson from Exeter, and visitors from Middlesbrough and Solihull.
On Sunday afternoon Bill looked at the unfolding ministry of Jesus in Luke. In the daily reading from chapter 21 Bill used the example of the widow’s mite to show that it was not how much she gave but that she gave her all. The authority of Jesus was questioned by the religious leaders but Jesus knew what was before Him and we remember that He gave His all for us as we take the bread and wine.
After sharing tea Bill gave a presentation about the background to the New Testament. Bill suggested that the Old and New Testaments were like two libraries of books with Jesus Christ as the linking door. He covered the history of the Bible, the translations, the culture and traditions of the times and what happened in the 400 years between the old and the new
