There was a good attendance at the opening meeting of the 2014/2015 session held in the Methodist Church in Fore Street on Friday, at 7.30pm.

Chairperson, Dorothy Pountain, welcomed everyone and introduced Celtic Chords, a Ladies' Barber Shop Chorus whose members are drawn from various places between Bodmin and Porthleven and who were performing in Porthleven for the first time.

Under the direction of their Deputy Musical Director, Hilary Cromey, they sang a variety of older and modern songs in which they ably demonstrated their skills in Close Harmony singing. Their audience also greatly enjoyed listening to a quartet comprised of chorus members.

Dorothy thanked the chorus for giving their audience an excellent evening's entertainment. Everyone then enjoyed a splendid supper which had been provided by the committee.

The next meeting on Friday, October 17 will be an open one when a representative from "The Samaritans" organisation will talk about its work. Everyone is very welcome to attend.
