On Saturday the church hosted a special service of thanksgiving for 140 years work by the Leprosy Mission. Reports were given on the work going on at the moment in African countries and in South East Asia.

Speakers were Martin Pitman and the Rev David Beazley, both very much involved in the work of the Leprosy Mission.

“Signs and symbols” was the theme of a reader’s service, prepared by local preacher Elaine Harris and led by Muriel Richardson on Sunday morning. David Philp was the organist.

Evening worship was led by the Minister, the Rev Beverly Turner, and was attended by friends from Breaney Chapel as well as the regular congregation. The theme was the Great Banquet story from Matthew’s gospel, the reading of which was dramatised. Taking part were Palfrey Turner, Olive Polglase, Jim Marsh, Nigel Ferris, David Balme, Judi Mitchell, Elsie Balme and Hugh Trezise. The service concluded with holy communion. Organist was John Gilbert.

The men’s choir for Harvest of the Sea continue to meet for practice each Thursday at 7.30pm. New members are still welcome at this stage.
