President for the day on Sunday was Roger Hosking who welcomed visitors from Middlesbrough, Knowle and Dorridge, Solihull, Erdington and Ashby.

Speaker in the afternoon was Bob Muxlow who reminded us of how young Jesus was to be so ill-treated and put to death. We have family and friends, but he had no-one at the end except his heavenly Father. Someone asked Jesus what we must do to please God and his reply was that we simply had to believe in the One he had sent.

The gospel of John brings out many times that belief in Jesus was the essence of all faith. We just have to remember the love God has for each one of us since he gave Jesus for our salvation which we remember in the communion service.

After sharing tea Michael Hosking gave a talk on the Hope of Resurrection. He used mainly the account of Luke regarding the proof of the resurrection of Jesus. As a gentile doctor and historian Luke recorded the eyewitness accounts of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. David spoke of it in the Old Testament, and throughout the preaching of the apostles their main theme was the hope of resurrection when Jesus returned. The apostle Paul said faith was futile if there was no resurrection and that is the hope of all believers.

On Sunday there will be a presentation entitled “A Time for Peace” at the Christadelphian Hall, Church Row at 5.30pm and all visitors are welcome.
