President for the day on Sunday was Michael who welcomed visitors from Newquay, Middlesbrough and Birmingham.

On Sunday morning Nigel Patterson looked at the story in Acts 12 of Peter’s second release from jail in response to the earnest prayer of the believers, even though they didn’t believe it when their prayer was answered. Early Christians steadfastly prayed showing togetherness of heart and mind, especially when they prayed together after Peter’s first release and quoted Psalm 2 foretelling the Messiah who would have total commitment to God.

Nigel pointed out that our prayers were in the context of God’s will, even as Jesus prayed in Gethsemane. Jesus advised us to watch and pray as we wait for His return and we remember Him in the communion service.

After sharing tea Nigel gave an inspiring presentation on the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6. It looks to the coming kingdom on earth in answer to the promises God made to Abraham. Acts chapter 1 points out that there were many proofs of the preaching and resurrection of Jesus. The angels promised that Jesus would come again and Jesus said that he was the Way, the Truth and the Life. The Lord’s Prayer can only be said by believers because of the promises and instruction it contains. Life in that kingdom is the free gift of God through the salvation of Jesus.
