President for the day on Sunday was Michael who welcomed the speaker, Dr David Cox, and his wife from Camborne.

In the afternoon David used the account of Israel’s failure to build the temple after their return from captivity in Babylon. The people attended to their own business before God’s. The work had been started but opposition from other people stopped them.

In the New Testament David used the parable of the man who built his house upon the rock. Paul’s focus was always on building up and feeding the flock of God which was all inclusive. Psalm 118 v 8 is the very central verse of the Bible and says it is better to trust in the Lord than in man and it is also the very centre of our faith with Jesus as our chief cornerstone who we remember in the communion service.

After sharing tea we listened to an enlightening talk from David about the truth in many myths and legends which were common to almost all cultures and were evidence of Bible truths. David looked at creatures in the Bible which also had spiritual significance for us today.

On Sunday there will be a Harvest Thanksgiving at the Christadelphian Hall in Church Row, Porthleven at 5.30pm and everyone is welcome to come and join in.
