President on Sunday afternoon was Geoff Harry who welcomed visitors from Exeter. Bob Muxlow gave an exhortation reminding us that according to the Bible all God requires of us is a loving relationship with Him such as Abraham had.

The Lord wants us to acknowledge the blessings we receive from Him, but promises much more. Bob looked at the daily Bible readings and talked of the two temples built for God and the one which was still to come.

Jesus came into the world to bring the practical blessings of healing, feeding, resurrection and the spiritual blessing of the kingdom to come. Our challenge is to continue in our faith and hope as we strive to do justly, love mercy and walk humbly, remembering what Jesus has done for us in the communion service.

After sharing tea Dieter Friedrich led an illustrated service of Harvest Thanksgiving interspersed with joyous songs of praise and thanks. Dieter reminded us of the starvation in the world but of our sufficiency and our need to recognise God’s provision. The apostle Paul reminded us in 1 Corinthians chapter 15 that Jesus was the first fruits of believers waiting for resurrection in the kingdom.

After such a stirring service a light-hearted auction took place when everyone bought all the produce so beautifully displayed. The proceeds were added to the money raised at the earlier frugal lunch all in aid of the Meal-A-Day charity helping the emergency in Africa.
