President for the day on Sunday was Peter Kitchen and he welcomed the many visitors from Kettering, Knowle, Dorridge, Ashby, Bedford, Solihull, Acocks Green and Perth, Australia.
The speaker was Simon Palmer and he spoke in the afternoon about the witness of Stephen who had a powerful relationship with his Saviour, Jesus Christ. Simon wondered if our witness had the same powerful effect on our lives and the people around us. Stephen knew his scripture and we need to read the Bible regularly to learn and understand what should be reflected in our lives. We need to know Jesus as well as Stephen did and fulfil the commands of Jesus to love God and our neighbour as ourselves. Jesus said He was the way the Truth and the Life and the only way to salvation.
After sharing tea Simon gave a moving presentation on a possible letter from God to show his love for us. Simon had chosen appropriate quotations from the Bible which the whole congregation read in turn and made it all the more powerful. The letter spoke of God’s amazing love for us even though He knew everything about us; it spoke of the Lord Jesus and what should be our response to this wonderful opportunity to draw near to Him through Jesus. We should all strive to copy the example of Jesus to love everyone and offer help to all who need it.
