On Saturday the church hosted a special service of thanksgiving for 140 years work by the Leprosy Mission. Reports were given on the work going on at the moment in African countries and in South East Asia.

One of the results of cancelling Porthleven Lifeboat Day (due to weather conditions) this year was what to do about the raffle. We had sold tickets prior to the event but not the number we would have done had we been able to hold the event.

On Sunday the speaker was the well-known speaker, John Parry. He is an accountant who is a Trustee of the nationwide Christadelphian care homes and has preached in France, Russia, Ukraine, Germany and USA.

The service last Sunday was conducted by Stewards Edward Hengist and Jacqui Milner. Written by the Rev Peter Lanes it was entitled “Love Changes Everything” and was most interesting. There were readings from Nicky Lawrence and Dick Brunwin, and as usual, Mavis Harper was organist.

On Sunday morning at Breaney Chapel, Susan Bennetts was our preacher. In Music Corner Paul Jenkin was organist with Sarah Fuller on guitar until the Sunday School went downstairs. The talk at the early part of the service was a time of testing 'What plant is this?' Actually it was a stinging nettle, asking 'Is it a plant or a weed?'; docks, and several other plants from the hedgerow and garden.

President for the day on Sunday was Brian Jones and he welcomed the well known speaker, David Simpson and his wife. David has preached all over the world including the Caribbean, Ireland and Russia, he also is a popular speaker at youth gatherings.

Passers by the church during the last week may have noticed outside the building a beautiful tub of Remembrance Poppies. These were specially grown by the children of the Powerhouse Group, in commemoration of the outbreak of World War One.
