The Remembrance Day service on Sunday started in church moving outside for the Act of Remembrance just before 11am.
The service was led by the parish priest, the Rev Canon David Miller, who gave the address. The Rev Jane Bradbury, parish curate, assisted with the prayers and the licensed reader, Gillian Bowles, led the intercession at the memorial.
Lessons were read by Mary Durman from the church and a representative from Wendron parish council. Accompanying the hymn singing were the church organist, Anne Veneear, and members of Wendron Silver Band. Sidespeople were Philip Warren and Bevan Osborne.
The weather was dry with a little sunshine, which was good for the large number, including friends from Porkellis Methodist church, who gathered around the memorial outside for the Act of Remembrance. The names of those to be remembered were read by a member of the parish council. Prior to the wreath laying, two members of the band played the Last Post and Reveille and the band joined in for the playing of the National Anthem.
Coffee was served in church after the service.
Once again thank you to the members of the Devon and Cornwall Police Force who controlled the traffic, especially during the two minutes silence.
