TREWENNACK Christmas always starts at the end of August for the Pentyr Singers as they begin rehearsing for the festive season to make sure their performances are of the highest standard.

But even with this early start, Christmas still seems to come around all too quickly. The singers were very pleased with the success of their fundraising concert at The Old Cattle Market, Helston in July, which raised over £500.00 for Cornwall Hospice Care, supporting St Julia’s Hospice, their chosen charity for 2014, and now they are planning a Christmas Concert at the same venue on Saturday, December 13 from 7.30pm.

They have added three new songs to their Christmas repertoire this year, ‘Calypso Christmas’ carol by Natalie Sleeth, ‘Cradle Song’ which is a beautiful arrangement of a Flemish Carol by John Rutter and another arrangement by him of ‘O Holy Night’, as well as favourites from past years and carols for everyone to join in and should provide an enjoyable evening for everyone.

There will be a Grand Christmas Draw on the night with Christmas themed prizes. Tickets will be £5.00 and be available at the beginning of December or on the door.

The choir are also looking for venues to perform their Christmas concerts between the end of November and December 20. If you would like more information about this, please contact their bookings secretary, Joyce Yapp on 01326 562143 or e mail her at joyce.eileen.yapp@gmail.com.
