Sunday, October 12, morning worship was conducted by Mike Trounson, with the theme of mysteries.

The oldest of the young people went out to their Cell Group led by Claire Atkin. Mike spoke to the children about Moses and the Israelites on their way to the Promised Land. God provided them with a mysterious food called manna, which tasted of honey.

Pictures were shown of mysteries such as the Easter Island statues, the Rosetta Stone and the Turin Shroud. Mike explained that although these things were interesting, they were not necessary to our faith. He then spoke about the billions of stars and how we are told that God knows then all by name.

Mike said that the real mystery is that God knows us all by name and wants a personal relationship with each of us. David Wingham was the pianist with Andy Wingham on cornet. Richard Curnow operated the computer.

The Rev Daniel Reed conducted the communion service on October 19 and chose the theme of “Following”. Everyone was given paper and pen to draw the outline of their left foot or shoe. These were then cut out and prayers were then written on the paper, requesting guidance for the paths God wanted us to follow.

Ismay Rogers read from Matthew chapter 8 v 18-22, which outlined the cost of following Jesus. The congregation then formed groups to discuss the sacrifices involved in discipleship. Mr Reed posed the question: what are we really following? He said that God hears our prayers and gives us the strength to follow Him.

Members of Junior Church joined the congregation for the communion and everyone placed their paper soles (souls) at the foot of the Cross. Neil Didlick was the worship leader, with David Wingham playing the piano, Ben Reed on drums, Rose Didlick on clarinet and vocalists Nicola Hale and Gina Risby. Paul Triggs operated the computer.
