Children’s Hospice South West found a different way to launch the countdown to this year’s Moonlight Memory Walk.

Supporters of the charity got together on Castle Beach in Falmouth to spell out a special message in the sand and encourage ladies to join CHSW for the Moonlight Memory Walk in the town on Saturday 18th September.

Wearing Moonlight Memory t-shirts the ladies lay on the beach to write the words ‘walk with us’ with their bodies as a call to others to take part in the five mile ladies only sponsored walk around Falmouth , to celebrate precious memories with every step and help raise funds for the Precious Lives Appeal.

Emma Lloyd, Children’s Hospice South West Head of Fundraising (West) says: “We thought this would be a fun way to start the three month countdown to our Moonlight Memory Walk! Thank you to all the ladies for helping us to get the message across that the Moonlight Memory Walk is coming back to Falmouth!

“Last year the atmosphere at the event was fantastic with around seven hundred ladies raising more than £60,000 to help build a children’s hospice in Cornwall. We hope hundreds of ladies will join us for a wonderfully uplifting evening to raise an equally staggering amount this year.

“The Moonlight Memory Walk is a girl’s night out with a difference and it is your chance to really make a difference to the lives of families with children who are not expected to reach adulthood as all the money raised will go towards building Little Harbour, a children’s hospice in Cornwall.

“At Children’s Hospice South West we know that memories are treasured possessions, and creating them for families with life-limited children is a big part of what we do. By taking part and celebrating someone who has been special to you, you will be helping create precious memories for the families who will use Little Harbour – memories that will last a lifetime.”

After an inspiring candle lit ceremony on The Moor and a warm up by Pirate FM, Moonlight Memory Walkers will set off together at 10pm on a five mile circular walk, taking in the town centre and the sea front, in memory of a loved one. There will be a medal, hot drink, pasty, and goody bag waiting for them on their return to welcome them back into The Moor at the end of the walk.

The event is open to all ladies over the age of sixteen, with parental consent required for sixteen to eighteen year olds. Men are also encouraged to get involved by marshalling or taking on another volunteer role on the night.
