A sea of purple is expected to flood Falmouth in just over a month’s time as hundreds of ladies get together for Children’s Hospice South West’s Moonlight Memory Walk on Saturday September 10, writes Ella Hendy from the charity.

With many ladies opting for fancy dress in addition to their purple Moonlight Memory Walk T-shirts, there will be a rainbow of other colours too.

Emma Lloyd, Children’s Hospice South West head of fundraising (west), said: “Many of the groups of ladies choose to brighten up their outfits with flashing bunny ears, deely boppers, feather bowers, colourful wigs or cowgirl hats.

“In the previous two events we’ve also seen teams of angels, fairies, ladybirds and even a duo dressed as Laurel and Hardy. It’s all great fun and really adds to the spirit of the occasion and the sense of camaraderie.

“We’ve had a wide range of ladies signing up for this year’s event, and all coming together for a common cause – to help the children and families who will use our new hospice, Little Harbour. There’s something very special about that.

“We will gather on The Moor for a moving candlelit ceremony to remember loved ones before we set off on an uplifting walk together, taking in the sights of the town centre and the seafront by moonlight.

“There is only just over a month left to go until this year’s event, so if you want to be part of this girls’ night out with a difference don’t forget to register soon.”

The Moonlight Memory Walk takes place in Falmouth on Saturday, September 10. After entertainment from Pirate FM, the walkers will gather on The Moor. The walk itself starts at 10pm and will take a circular route around the town centre and the seafront.

The event is open to all ladies over the age of 16. Please note that parental consent is required for 16 to 18-year-olds.

Entry is just £10, which includes a T-shirt, fundraising pack, candle bag, and a medal, hot drink, warming Rowe’s Cornish pasty, and a fabulous goody bag on completion of the walk.

There will be a fantastic prize of six free haircuts and a hamper full of pampering hair products from Rococo in Truro for the lady who raises the most in sponsorship, and all ladies raising over £100 will be entered into the draw to win a relaxing spa day.
