Two serving police officers have been honoured for their part in a rescue of a man from the Truro River this summer.

Constable Dan Robins and Acting Sergeant Matthew Trevivian will receive the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Police Commander’s citation at a ceremony this Friday at Bodmin police station.

The citationhas been given to the pair for their, “prompt action’ when on the night of the July 26, police received a report of a man hanging on to trees, unable to get off a river bank in Truro.

PC Dan Robins was first to locate the man, lying motionless, half in the water at the bottom of a steep, nettled covered muddy bank.

The two oficers made their way down the bank, and pulled the man out of the water to safety, allowing medical treatment to be administered and the man's life saved.
