Planners refuse 300 homes in Truro

Developers say they will appeal against a decision to refuse plans for over 300 homes on the outskirts of Truro.

Cornwall Council's strategic planning committee refused the development by Persimmon Homes by 11 votes to 6 on Thursday.

The application was to build 320 homes on the corner of Arch Hill and Green Lane, with a developer contribution of over £1.5 million for Arch Hill roundabout traffic improvements.

The development was recommended for approval by planning officers.

Prediction:
Persimmon Homes will appeal and the Tory government will overrule the local decision without hesitation or deviation.
Just remember that when in 2 1/2 years its time to vote again.

Depends on what you mean by "the local decision"; the decision of the planning officers who recommended the application for approval, or the decision of the council which refused it.

Remember also that when locals complain that their kids have to move away because there's a shortage of housing in Cornwall, there could have been 320 houses there.
