Cornwall on standby to deal with snow (From Falmouth Packet)

Cornwall on standby to deal with snow
9:30am Friday 18th January 2013 in Truro
Cornwall Council staff are on standby to deal with any problems caused by snow and ice.
A spokesman said officers from the council’s emergency management service are monitoring the weather situation closely and are liaising with staff from other Council services and partner agencies to respond if the situation deteriorates.
Snow has been reported on Bodmin Moor and Liskeard. There are also reports of flooding on the roads in west Cornwall, with a blocked rail line between St Erth and St Ives.
Teams from CORMAC Solutions Ltd, the Council’s highways service provider, carried out precautionary salting across East Cornwall from midnight and the council is calling on driver to check forecasts before they set out, and drive with care.
