Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision at St Mawes, in which a motorcyclist died.

Emergency services were called to a collision between the Yamaha motorcycle and a Volvo XC90 car on Tredenham Road at 5.55pm yesterday.

The motorcycle rider, a 25-year-old man from the Truro area, sustained a serious head injury and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Formal identification has not yet taken place although next of kin have been informed.

The 45-year-old female driver of the Volvo, from Hampshire, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and was interviewed at Camborne police station. She has been bailed until November 19, 2014.

The road was closed for six hours for officers to carry out an examination of the scene.

Officers from the Force Serious Collisions Investigation Unit are conducting an enquiry into circumstances of the collision.

They are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the two vehicles travelling on Tredenham Road prior to the incident to contact them.
