Children at Royal Cornwall Hospital have been treated to a special visit from CBeebies favourite Mr Bloom.

Whilst his veggie friends were having a much deserved break, Mr Bloom took the opportunity to visit ‘tiddlers’, Mr Bloom’s affectionate term for children, parents and staff, on his trip to Cornwall.

Mr Bloom, aka Ben Faulkes who comes from Truro, Cornwall, was thrilled with the reception he received from children and staff and thoroughly enjoyed his time at the hospital.

“It’s so great to meet children who are CBeebies fans and recognise me from being on the telly, most of them are always surprised how tall I am, as they think I am only about 20cm high!” said Mr Bloom. “It’s a really good feeling visiting the children during their stay in hospital and to be able to put a smile on their faces.”

Deborah Charles, Play Specialist at Royal Cornwall Hospital was delighted to see how much the children enjoyed the visit and was extremely thankful to Mr Bloom for taking a break from his busy schedule to meet so many children. “We are so grateful to Mr Bloom for visiting us. It makes so much difference to children during their stay in hospital, as it helps them forget being ill for a short while,” stated Deborah. “Not only have children enjoyed the visit but I think it’s also been a highlight for parents, especially the mums, and staff!”

Mr Bloom enjoyed his brief visit to Cornwall, before he headed back to star in the CBeebies Pantomime ‘Peter Pan’, which is being filmed in October and said there was so much he misses about Cornwall. “It’s always lovely to return to my roots,” said Mr Bloom. “I especially miss the people, the places and the pasties!”
