Firefighters from Newquay were alerted by an automatic fire alarm in Pentire Avenue at a little before 10pm this morning.
Arriving on scene, they found the alarm had been triggered by a piece of machinery which had caught fire.
A spokesperson said: "Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus investigated the area and found there to be a fire in a burnt out motor in a plant room. The area was checked to ensure it was safe."
