The Western Greyhound bus company that operates across Cornwall and Devon is on the market.

Described on the website of property and asset consultants ES Group as a well established independent company with a new recently awarded four-year council contracts, it has an "extensive bus fleet operating from a freehold and three leasehold depots and workshops.

The turnover, year ended September 30, 2014, is listed as £7.9m, with expressions of interest for the business and assets required by 5pm on Friday, November 14.

The company is headquartered at Western House, St Austell Street, Summercourt, Newquay, the site of an arson attack last year that destroyed over 30 of its vehicles. A second arson attack saw three buses destroyed near Liskeard.

The company has recently suspended services on a number of "lightly used" routes, blaiming an "unprecedented shortage of drivers".
