Residents and visitors to Cornwall who need urgent out-of-hours medical care should now call 111.
South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) provides the NHS111 service in the county and it has now replaced the Serco out of hours’ number.
Anyone who calls the Serco number will be asked to re-dial 111. The out-of-hours service runs from 6.30pm to 8am during the week and 24-hours during weekends and Bank Holidays.
When someone calls 111, a trained adviser will ask them questions to find out what is wrong, give them medical advice and/or direct them to someone who can help, such as an out-of-hours’ doctor or a community nurse.
If the adviser thinks their condition is more serious, they will direct them to a hospital or request an ambulance. All of our advisers are supported by experienced nurses and paramedics.
Please continue to call 999 for urgent, life threatening emergencies. This includes incidents such as chest pain/struggling to breathe, loss of consciousness, severe burns, choking, severe blood loss, fitting or a serious head injury.
