Police are appealing for a cyclist to come forward after he helped a man who had been assaulted with a metal bar.

The passing cyclist helped a 33-year-old local man who suffered serious head injuries and a fractured leg after being assaulted by a group of men at Bodmin.

The victim was hit with a metal bar by one of the men during the assault that happened between 10pm and 11pm on Tuesday, December 9, in the field adjacent to the Bawden Road footpath.

The cyclist is described as a white man, aged 45 to 50, and was wearing fluorescent cycling clothing.

DC Chris Donald, based in Bodmin, said: “This was a very serious attack and we would like to speak to the cyclist as he may have vital information that could help us with our enquiries.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen a group of men acting suspiciously in the area.”
