British Transport Police is warning of the dangers of trespass after a man stood on the tracks in front of an approaching train at Truro railway station.

Officers have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident which took place shortly after 10pm on Saturday, December 20.

Investigating officer, PC Bob Edwards, said: “A group of men alighted from a train at Truro before one of them went on to the tracks when the level crossing barriers were down, indicating that a train was approaching.

“Thankfully, a member of staff managed to signal to the driver of the approaching train who brought the train to an emergency stop.

"I am shocked and saddened to see that, despite our constant warnings, some people are still willing to risk their lives by trespassing on the tracks.

“This was absolutely senseless behaviour and I cannot overstate just how dangerous it is.

“I am now asking for the public’s help to identify the man captured in the CCTV images as I believe he will have information which can assist the investigation.”

Do you recognise the man pictured? Do you know his current whereabouts?
