A man has been charged with 17 assaults in connection with a serious collision at a ‘car cruise’ event in Plymouth last July which left 17 people injured.

Officers were called to B&Q car park in Tavistock Road around 10pm on 26 July 2014 following reports that a Ford Fiesta had been in collision with a large gathering of bystanders.

Seventeen people, aged between 12 and 20, were injured and taken to Derriford Hospital.

Christopher Budd, aged 19, of Trelawney Gardens, Liskeard, has been charged with 17 counts of assault and one count of dangerous driving and has been bailed to appear before Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on January 28.
