Trading Standards is issuing a warning to Cornwall residents following a series of reports of roadside sales of electrical goods and knives. The products are being sold from unmarked vehicles, predominantly around farms and industrial estates, by itinerant traders.

They include generators, chainsaws, hedge cutters and ceramic knives.

Leanne McLean, Lead Officer for Doorstep Crime in Cornwall said: “We would urge residents to only buy goods from reputable suppliers. Electrical products are required to be thoroughly tested before being placed on the market to ensure safety.

"The danger with buying from itinerant traders on your doorstep or in the street is that you do not know where the products have come from or if they are safe. If you injured yourself or something went wrong with the product you would be very unlikely to find the trader to remedy the situation.”

Reports indicate that the items have been sold in Liskeard, St Austell and Truro.
