Guests at this year’s Cornwall Air Ambulance Summer Ball will have the opportunity to win a scenic flight in the new helicopter on the evening.

This year’s ‘Heliwood’ ball takes place on Saturday, July 25 and has a Hollywood glamour theme, with guests being encouraged to come along in their best 1920s flapper, 1950s glamour or silent movie chic outfits.

Guests will be treated to a three course dinner and a night of entertainment at the event, which takes place in the unique setting of the charity’s Newquay helicopter hangar.

Head of fundraising, Susie Smith, said: “This is the fourth year of the Cornwall Air Ambulance summer ball, and it’s now a firm favourite in the Cornish events calendar.

“Last year’s event was a huge sellout success and raised a massive £13,000 toward keeping Cornwall Air Ambulance flying high and saving lives.

“We’re hoping this year’s event will be even bigger and better, and the opportunity for our guests to win a flight is one not to be missed!

“Weather dependent, the lucky guests will be whisked away on the evening for a short scenic flight over the Cornish coast. Everyone in the fundraising team is very jealous!

“It’s really important to stress that the flight will take place after the helicopter comes off duty for the evening, and is being sponsored by our aircraft operator, Medical Aviation Services, at no cost to the charity.”

8 Piece local band Risky Business were a huge success at last year’s event and will make a welcome return this year. Guests will also be entertained by a casino, auction, raffle and one or two surprises on the evening.

Tickets are available from Cornwall Air Ambulance by calling 01637 889926. A limited number of ‘early bird’ tickets at £65 are available on a first come first served basis, and companies or groups wishing to book a table will receive one free place for every table of ten.
