The impact to services in Chacewater of a proposed new pharmacy in St Day will be discussed at a hearing called by NHS England after concerns were raised by residents.

The NHS governing body has agreed to investigate the proposal after villagers and doctors at the Chacewater Health Centre raised concerns that if the new pharmacy was created, patients living close to the health centre - including the elderly or those with mobility problems - would no longer be able to get their medicines from their local health centre, local GP practices might shrink, and the St Day branch surgery might close.

Truro and Falmouth MP Sarah Newton raised these issues with NHS England, and said: "I have consulted widely with residents of Chacewater and the surrounding area and have today submitted the feedback I have received to NHS England.

"NHS England have now agreed to hold a hearing on 11 June to hear this evidence, along with representations from the St Day pharmacy applicant, statutory interested parties, parish councils and community representatives.

"I hope that NHS England listens to the strength of feeling against the St Day pharmacy application, and makes the right decision.”
