Truro Tourist Information Centre will continue to deliver the visitor information service for Cornwall having been awarded the contract by Visit Cornwall (CIC) for a fifth consecutive year.

The re-commission celebrates the successful partnership that has been enjoyed by the two tourism organsations since 2010 and highlights Visit Cornwall’s continued drive for quality as it moves into its new guise as community interest company.

As well as providing countywide holiday information by telephone and email on behalf of Visit Cornwall, the team at Truro Information Centre also offer a dedicated Truro visitor service from their central Boscawen Street base and operate as a retail shop selling local products and gifts.

Demelza Davies, manager of Truro Tourist Information Centre, said: “The needs and demands of visitors are changing so it has been vital for us to adapt, to both safeguard our future and continue to be relevant. We have transformed from being a traditional Tourist Information Centre wholly reliant on public funding to become a go-to shop for Cornish goodies and an extension of the Visit Cornwall team. We are proud to be Visit Cornwall’s customer-facing visitor service and to be part of its journey for a fifth year.”

Malcolm Bell, chief executive of Visit Cornwall, added: “By outsourcing our contact centre to the Truro Tourist Information Centre it has enabled us to tap into their customer service and knowledge skills whilst being able to focus on destination promotions. The partnership has helped us to support each other to retain visitor information functions at both a town and county level and I look forward to working with the team as they introduce even more services to their repertoire in the coming year.”
