A man is in a critical condition with a head injury and a broken jaw after being punched in the face in a Newquay nightclub on Saturday.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault, which occurred on the dance floor Sailors nightclub at around 1.25am on Saturday June 6.
The 27 year old from Somerset was knocked unconscious when he was hit by another man, and was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital but later transferred to Derriford Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
A 27 year old man from Swindon was arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and has been released on bail until July 10.
A police spokesperson said detectives investigating the assault are appealing for witnesses, and are "particularly keen" to speak to three people who were close by on the dance floor at the time.
The spokesperson said: "They include a man in a baggy basketball vest top, who carried the injured man to the side of the dance floor, and two women, one in a red fitted dress and the other in a black and white fitted dress."
Anyone who can assist is asked to contact Detective Constable Steve Applewhite, Newquay CID, by calling police on 101, quoting crime reference CR/039181/15.
