A package is being investigated by police forensic teams after three people who came into contact with it became unwell at Playing Place near Truro this afternoon.

Police were called to an address on Penhalls Way at around 1.45, along with the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service Hazard Materials Team attended and ambulance crews, and all three occupants were checked over by paramedics.

Two were treated at the scene and did not require hospital treatment, the third occupant was uninjured.

The package has been taken away for forensic examination and Truro CID will be launching an investigation into the incident.

No other properties in the area are believed to have been affected.

Chief Inspector Ian Drummond-Smith, based in Truro, said: “I would like to reassure residents that this is a very unusual incident and the wider community are not believed to be at risk. We will now be carrying out a focused investigation.”
