The head teacher of Perranporth School has paid tribute to a 'popular and fun loving' pupil who died after collapsing on Wednesday.
Alistair Johnson said the death of seven year old Esmee Polmear was "a terrible tragedy" that had left the school community "shocked and devastated."
He said: "Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of Esmee. She was a bright, popular and fun loving member of our school who touched the lives and hearts of all who knew her; she will be terribly missed."
Following her collapse at the school, Esmee was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, where she later died.
Police are investigating but a spokesperson said the death is not being treated as suspicious.
