Two Perranporth life savers have already been hard at work as the RNLI Lifeguards begin appearing at beaches across Cornwall.

Even more lifeguards will be starting work this weekend, at beaches including Marazion, South Fistral, and many more, and they will be patrolling throughout the summer from 10am to 6pm.

The lifeguards at Perranporth in Cornwall have already been busy this week, as on July 1 lifeguards James Kirton and Matt Renshaw launched the inshore rescue boat to advise two kayakers that they were approaching the surf line.

As they neared the shore, the kayakers got caught by large breaking waves and capsized, so James and Matt went to their assistance.

Simon Crayfourd, RNLI fifeguard manager, said: "The RNLI lifeguards offer a crucially important lifesaving service, making sure everyone on the beach has fun but stays safe whilst doing so.

"We want to remind people who intend on visiting the beach this year to adhere to the lifeguards safety messages and always swim between the red and yellow flagged area."
