Tributes have poured in for the family of a "popular and fun loving" seven year old who died after collapsing at Perranporth School last Wednesday.

Friends of Esmee Polmear and her family, and staff at the school, have paid tribute to a "beautiful little"girl, who died at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro where she was taken following her collapse.

Now a fundraising page has been set up by one well-wisher to to allow people to donate money to Esmee's family, in order to help cover costs such as the funeral.

In Loving Memory of Esmee Polmear was set up by Jade Ebony Hull, who wrote on the page: "This beautiful little girl was cruelly taken from her parents at the age of 7."

She later added: "The response is truly amazing. I know personally how touched the family are. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."

The head teacher of Perranporth School, Alistair Johnson, last week described Esmee's death as "a terrible tragedy" that had left the school community "shocked and devastated."

He said: "Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of Esmee. She was a bright, popular and fun loving member of our school who touched the lives and hearts of all who knew her; she will be terribly missed."

On Facebook, Esmee's father Mark changed his profile picture to a shot of Esmee, and wrote: "The newest and brightest star in the sky tonight baby girl."

Allan Hignell wrote: "She was the first little girl to offer her friendship to my little girl, a new comer at the school- just the same as you have to me and we cant imagine your loss."

Others described Esmee as a "beautiful angel," "a pleasure and an honour to know," "beautiful and bubbly," and "a rare one."

Fundraising campaigner Jade added: "I am in a state seeing this lil angel's face. What a cruel world we live in will be praying tonight for you all. Rest in peace lil one."

The campaign has so far raised £5,900, and anyone wishing to donate can go to http://www.gofundme.com/yh8p4s

A police spokesperson said officers are investigating the death, although it is not being treated as suspicious.
