Coastguards were called out to investigate a possible missing person or persons after a tent was found abandoned on a cliff top near St Agnes on Thursday.
The St Agnes coastguard team were called, along with police, in the late afternoon and the immediate area was searched by coastguards, with assistance from St Agnes lifeguards and lifeboat, although nothing was found and nobody had been reported missing.
A coastguard spokesperson said: "As this investigation unfolded the lifeboat launched to investigate persons reported to be in difficulty near Green Island.
"The people were found to be safe and well after making their own way back to land."
